Held in the San Luis Valley, Colorado's Best Kept Secret. At the area's largest outdoor geothermal pool located 1 mile North of Alamosa on Hwy 17. Fall Colors in bloom with the Great Sand Dunes and six 14'nrs as a backdrop make this a triathlon to remember. Splashland is Alamosa's historic hot springs swimming pool fed by geothermal waters entering the pool at 103*, {aveage pool temperature is 88-94 *.} Run where ASU National Athletes and World Class Runners tread. This annual benefit sprint triathlon helps to purchase ADA equipment at the pool. Register on-line at our website : splashlandllc.com before Oct 1st for $40. Individual or $80. Team (2 or 3)....... After Oct 1st registration is $50.00 Individual or $100 Team...... The week-of and race-day registration is $55. Individual or $110. Team. Fall can be a bit chilly in the Valley with last years event beginning at 40 degree's but ending in the 50's..Elevation is 7,600 feet above sea level so plan accordingly. Various food & accommodations available in Alamosa.
Course Information:
Beginning at 9 am, Run 3.3 miles starting at the pool, crossing over a footbridge across the Rio Grande River, then following the river levee, and back to the pool. Mt Blanca, Colorado's 3rd highest peak overlooks the valley floor as you bike 10 miles on paved roads and catch a glimpse of the Great Sand Dunes National Park with six 14'nrs in the background. End with a 400 yard serpentine swim in the warm geothermal waters of Splashland. Parking available at the pool where the start and finish are located.
