Part of the fun during the annual Waterfest celebration in Excelsior Springs, MO, is the Waterfest 5K on Saturday, June 25, 2016, a run and walk to benefit the Excelsior Springs Educational Foundation.
A fairly flat, out-and-back 5K course begins in downtown Excelsior Springs and runs in front of the historic Hall of Waters before connecting with the paved trail through Fishing River Linear Park. The event also includes a two-mile walk and a 1-mile kids fun run. A special rate of $10 applies to all students (the student discount will be credited during the registration process).
After the race, you can enjoy the rest of the festival located near the start/finish line. Celebrating its 35th year, the Chamber's Annual Waterfest celebrates the city’s mineral water heritage. This three-day event features arts, crafts, live entertainment, and water games for the kids, classic car-hot rod and truck show, parade and much more. The EX-Factor singing competition will return, as well as headliner bands.
In support of local schools and teachers, 100 percent of race registration proceeds will benefit the Educational Foundation. The Educational Foundation funds educational activities not ordinarily funded by the Excelsior Springs School District that benefit students, staff and patrons. The Foundation seeks to enhance educational opportunities and excellence in the schools through development of incentives, awards, grants, and scholarships.
