2016 Lakes Country Triathlon:
The race begins with a 1/4-mile swim in Whipple Lake (known for its calm waters), then switches to a 14-mile bike ride through the rolling hills surrounding the Baxter/Brainerd Lakes area, (staying off of Hwy 210) and ends with a very flat 3.2 mile run through a quiet residential area. The Lakes Country Triathlon is a great race, be it your first or fiftieth!
Inglewood Drive is now paved! Water stations at the transition and at each mile on the run, more volunteers, more restroom facilities, and Gatorade and our usual fruit and hot dogs at the end. We will also be giving high quality sportwear wicking t-shirts to all participants that register before Friday, August 19, 2016.
The course consists of a 1/4-mile swim, a 13.6-mile bike ride, and a 3.2 mile run. All cyclists must observe Minnesota traffic laws. Bike certified hard-shelled helmets are required. Drafting is prohibited. No listening devices are allowed on the bike course and are strongly discouraged on the run course.
The race begins and ends at Whipple Beach on Whipple Lake at the intersection of North Clearwater Road and Oakwood Drive, Baxter.
From 371 (Home Depot): West on 210 for 2.5 miles, north on Memorywood Drive (160) for .9 miles, left at Cedar Scenic Road North for .4 miles, right on Oakwood Drive.
