The Tilikum Trail Run is celebrating its 10th year this July 4th. The run, formerly held at Champoeg Park, is now located at Camp Tilikum, the nonprofit camp that it benefits. The proceeds from this run will go towards scholarships for kids who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend our summer day camps.
The options are a 5K trail run, a 5K fun run, a 1 mile walk, and kids are very welcome to compete against other kids at their age level. There will be a post-run scavenger hunt for them as well. There will be an awards ceremony, a raffle, and an option of purchasing BBQ hamburgers and gardenburgers after the run. Tilikum's swimming area and canoes will also be open for the late morning and early afternoon hours with a life guard on duty for the enjoyment of all participants, without additional cost.
The course circles our one acre lake. The path includes gravel and grass trails/roads and a pedestrian bridge. Jogging strollers are welcome. Tilikum is a non-pet facility; please leave your pets at home.
From Portland, Tilikum is reached by going through downtown Newberg via Hwy 99, onto Hwy 240, and turning right onto Ribbon Ridge Road, which ends in a T. Go left at the T, and Tilikum is the next right, just past the first bend. We are 40 minutes from the center of Portland.
