Catch the Bug!
Located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, home to Yosemite National Park, Mariposa is rich in history and natural beauty, ideally suited for those interested in outdoor activities. The first annual Paseo de Mariposa, is a 5k family fun run and 12k Trail Run held within Mariposa County. The race starts on the grounds of the Mariposa Courthouse, the oldest courthouse (c.1851) west of the Rockies that is still in use.
This event promotes health and overall wellness. The mission is to engage children in active lifestyles. All children under the age of 18 years are eligible to participate in the 5k at no cost.
The 12k trail run is for the running enthusiasts. The trail winds through the Stockton Creek Preserve, and overlooks Mariposa Town.
All participants are invited and encouraged to walk in the Butterfly Parade and take part in the release of butterflies in downtown Mariposa to kick of The Butterfly Festival.
Awards will be given for first, second and third place in each event, and for best costume/ best decorated stroller. We encourage you to dress up and bring the whole family!
