The Rochesterfest triathlon is one of those events that offers an experience for the newbie triathlete or for the seasoned veteran.  The transition is the parking lot of the Foster Arends Park and therefore, the parking lot is not used for parking.  The transition is fairly flat and pavement.

Foster Arends pond is very unique that it is an old quarry turned into a pond by the city.  You will love the location and the grassy hillside around the sandy beach is excellent for spectators and athletes alike!

Course Information:

The sprint swim is a 1/4 mile swim in a pond that has little to no wind and no waves from boats.  Additionally, parts of the course have noodles as boundaries to help you out in case of trouble.  The olympic swim is a unique two lap course that goes around the pond, you get out of the water and then run to the start where you head back into the deep blue oasis.  The olympic smim starts off and the sprint does not begin until the last olympic athletes starts his second lap on the course.

The bike course is great that it has little turns and it is an out and back course.  The course is weel controlled by police so get after it!  The turn around for the bike is at the bottom of one of the biggest hills meaning the sprinters turn around and the olypic bikers make the journey up this beautiful hill and then to their own turnaround about six miles further.

The run course is our favorite pick of the courses for this triathlon.  The run goes south along the Zumbro River.  At times on this course you would not believe you are still in the city.  The sprint turns around by the soccer fields while the olympic goes further south towards Broadway.  The fun part of the olympic course is that the return trip starts on the west side of the river on a grassy trail and then climbs a hill to pop you up onto Elton Hills Drive where you will cross the bridge and head back towards Foster Arends Park.
