    • The Monticelloman Half is the first half-Iron distance event of the season in the mid-Atlantic region and is staged out of the beautiful and typically calm Lake Monticello, just 10 minutes from Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson.
    • A one loop swim, 2 loop bike and a 2 loop run make for an exciting race for athletes and spectators.
    • With 3 different distance races on one day, your family and friends can race with you in the distance that suits them best.

    Temperature
    The average air temperature high for May is 76 degrees. The average air temperature low is 54 degrees. The average air temperature is 65 degrees. Lake Monticello water temperatures average in the mid 60s for this time of year allowing for ideal wetsuit conditions. USAT wetsuit/water temperature rules will be in place on race day.

Course Information:

 

Monticelloman Half Iron Distance:

  • Start with a one loop, 1.2 mile typically call swim in beautiful Lake Monticello. The water temperature has been between 64-69 degrees the last five years.
  • The 56-mile two loop bike course is scenic with a mix of rolling and flat terrain on mostly low traffic roads. There are 2 water bottle handoffs with powerbar gels, and a portajohn at each on the course.
  • The 13.1 mile run course is 2 loops through the friendly Lake Monticello neighborhood and is all on pavement with rolling terrain. There are 4 aid stations on each loop of the run course stocked with the following: water, Base Hydro energy drink and powerbar gels plus Base salt at the turnaround. Portajohns are strategically placed at aid stations 2, 3 & 4. 

Monticelloman Olympic Triathlon:

  • Start with a .93 mile swim from the wide beach of Lake Monticello on a clockwise triangular course back to the beach. The water temperature has been between 64-69 degrees the last five years.
  • The 24 mile scenic aero-bike friendly course includes moderately rolling hills with long flatter stretches on mostly low traffic roads. The first half is rolling hills. The second half includes longer flat stretches.  There is 1 water bottle handoff at approximately mile 15 with powerbar gels and a portajohn.

Monticelloman Sprint Triathlon:

  • Start with a 750m swim from the wide beach of Lake Monticello on a clockwise triangular course back to the beach. The water temperature has been between 64-69 degrees the last five years.
  • The 11.5 mile scenic aero-bike friendly course includes moderately rolling hill.
  • The 3.1 mile run course is 1 loop through the friendly Lake Monticello neighborhood and is all on pavement with rolling terrain. Homeowners will be cheering you on right from their front yards. As you come home into the finish there will be a scenic view of Lake Monticello and a celebration circle of post race food and drinks. There are 3 aid stations on each loop of the run course with each fully stocked with the following: water & Base Hydro energy drink. Portajons are placed strategically at aid stations 2, 3 & 4.
