Other Info:

The Tulsa Duathlon was started in the late 90's by Chris Brown. Chris began this duathlon because at the time there was not another duathlon or triathlon in Tulsa the month of July. Chris became a triathlete in the 80's and his goal was to do 100 triathlons before he died. Chris died on July 1, 2005 of pancreatic cancer and was not able to fulfill this goal, but did come close. Chris taught astronomy and physics at Tulsa Community College for almost 30 years. Chris was a member of TAT, the astronomy club of Tulsa, and the Hog Harley Davidson owners group. Chris is survived by his two daughters Dana and Danielle as well as two granddaughters that were the apple of his eye. His sister Kate lives in Colorado and his niece Abby will be participating in the duathlon this year. The Tulsa Duathlon name was changed to the Chris Brown Tulsa Duathlon the week that he died in 2005.
