The Duathlon and 10K are open to individuals and teams comprised of athletes age 16 and older. The 5K race is divided into three categories: Youth, Adult, and Masters. See below for more information about each race category. Your age will be determined by your age at the end of the current year (12/31/2016). Early registration is encouraged!
DryBlend 50/50 Participant Shirt, Finisher Medal, Beautiful Scenery, and an Opportunity to Win a Plaque Award are all included with your registration!
HP3 – Duathlon Information
The duathlon consists of a 3.1 mile (5K) run, followed by a 15.33 mile (4 laps) bike ride, and a 3.1 mile (5K) run. The run portions are conducted inside Heritage Park, closed off from outside traffic. The bicycle portion is a partially hilly 4 lap course held both within and outside the park boundaries. Individual duathletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31st of this year (2016). Duathlon teams will be comprised of three or two individuals executing the three legs of the race in relay fashion. This is a USAT Sanctioned Duathlon.
HP3 – 10K & 5K Information
The 10K & 5K athletes will start with the duathletes in a mass start format on the park road on the dam, close to the marina parking lot. All races will run the first 5K on the same course leading back into the transition area. Once in the transition area, the duathletes will be directed to their bikes, the 5K runners will be directed to the finish line, and the 10K runners will be directed onto the last half of their race. There are three 5K categories available: Youth (15 and Under), Adult (16 and Older), and Masters (50+).
5K Masters – NEW IN 2016!
This year JCPRD is pleased to host the first ever Master’s 5K race category for HP3. This race category is specific for individuals ages 50 and older interested in competing in a 5K race that is scored separately from the other 5K runners. Awards will be given for the top three male and female runners. HP3 is a whole family affair! HP3 offers an Adult 5K category along with a Youth 5K category. All these race categories will start and run the same course together, but will be scored in their separate designated age categories. JCPRD is also starting a Master’s Run/Walk Club that will meet weekly to help individuals build up their endurance for this 5K. For more information about the Master’s Run/Walk Club please call (913) 826-3032.
