Event History

The Folsom Lake International Triathlon is in its fifth year. The race is at beautiful Granite Beach, Folsom Lake, featuring a lake swim, one lap road bike, and scenic trail run.

Back this year: the Folsom Lake Super Sprint Triathlon with a 400 yd swim-6.5 mile bike-2 mile run course, plus a 1.5K Open Water Swim (priced without race t-shirt). Included for each competitor is a Folsom Lake Triathlon tech-tee race shirt, swim cap, athlete goody bag plus hot post race meal and free athlete massage.

First place Male and Female in the Folsom Lake International Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each five-year age group and Relay Team awards for the Top team in each Division of Male, Female and Coed.

First place Male and Female in the Folsom Lake Super Sprint Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each ten-year age groups. 

The Aqua-Bike will have awards for the top three male and female overall finishers.

The Folsom Lake International Triathlon, Super Sprint Triathlon and Aqua Bike will all be USAT Sanctioned, requiring the purchase of a $12 one-day license with USAT, or the holding of an annual membership card with USAT.

Relay Teams

Relay Teams consist of one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner. Entry fee includes three race shirts, goody bags and post race meals. Awards will be first overall in Male, Female and Coed division for Folsom Lake International Triathlon.

Packet Pick Up Information

Athlete packets may be picked up on race morning at the race venue from 6 til 8 am.

Refund and Transfer Information

TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Race transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Participant transfers are allowed for this event, with a $15 fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held Rain or Shine.

Race for FREE Information

Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing Volunteer Director [email protected] as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.

Triathlon Training Class

TBF Training offers the ICE Breaker Triathlon Class beginning in 2016 for $199. This 8-week class will help athletes of all levels reach their fitness and performance goals. Find out more info at www.tbftraining.com or email [email protected] with your training questions.

Course Information:


Swim – The race starts from Granite Beach in Folsom Lake with a 1.5K swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be between 64-68 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach to the transition area located in the parking area.

Bike – The 40K bike course will exit the State Park and travel on local roads through Placer County. Course maps will be available on race morning at Registration. The Bike course will NOT have an aid station. Water and electrolyte beverage, along with energy gels will be available in the transition area.

Run – The 10K run course leaves transition and runs on single-track trails along the lake back towards Beal’s Point. The out and back course has 5 aid stations that will be stocked with water, electrolyte beverage, and energy gels. The finish is back at the start area at Granite Beach. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Granite Bay State Park on Folsom lake is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, 5-6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign after entering the park for the Granite Beach parking lot. There is a $12 vehicle charge for day-use or $125 for an annual pass. Contact phone: 916 988 0205.
