Try Simsbury Adventure Triathlon : Off Road |
Triathlon : 5k trail run, 12m road bike, 2m paddle |
The New & Improved Try Simsbury Adventure Triathlon is Sunday, May 22, 2015 at 11 AM at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center off of Iron Horse Boulevard. Try Simsbury at a different pace. Simsbury has many eye-catching outdoor assets including numerous hiking trails, the wild and scenic Farmington River, and terrific bike paths & trails.
This year’s triathlon begins with the Melissa Milan Memorial Run, sponsored by Fleet Feet. The run will begin with a lap around the soccer fields and after waving to family & friends, you will head off for a 5K trail through Simsbury Meadows. Enjoy your run on the lost but not forgotten and now re-established “River Walk” trail system.
The Bicycle Cellar is sponsoring the bike section, which is a 2-loop ride (spectator friendly and approximately 12 miles) on Simsbury’s scenic country roads paralleling the Farmington River.
The paddle, sponsored by Collinsville Canoe & Kayak, will begin at its new launch site just under Simsbury’s Landmark Flower Bridge. A 2-mile paddle will take you up river first. After the turnaround, enjoy the down-river paddle back under the Flower Bridge to the take out point, after which you will finish with a strong run back to the Performing Arts Center Finish.
