This family friendly, open water race started as a senior project and now plays a supporting role for youth programming with YFC. Everyone must catch the shuttle from Pyramid Mountain Lumber as there is no parking at the race site.
This is a great race to start your triathlon or duathlon racing career in open water. Wet suits are not necessary as the water is a reasonable temperature. All racers are chipped including the kids and finish times are immediately available for printing and on devices.
We hope everyone stays for the old fashioned BBQ and awards ceremony where the winners stand on Olympic style boxes and get their medal.
We hope to have enough interest in a disability race this year, and the course will be determined by entrants.
The Triathlon has two swim length to accommodate novices (300 yards) and those more experienced (600 yards). We have a dry start since the water is shallow enough for the short swim, that racers can nearly walk the course. The bike course is on Boy Scout Rd a paved county road, and the run is mostly on a dirt track off the road.
The Duathlon uses the same mostly off road course for the run and the paved county road for the bike portion.
The Kids Triathlon starts when most of the adults have completed the course so families can watch. The kids use the outside of the swim markers as their course and they can stop and hold on if they need to, and life vests are acceptable. Their bike ride is on a trail that is mowed before the race. The run is an out and back and they cross the same finish line as the adults.
Disability course to be determined.
Riverpoint Campground is on the east side of the river outlet of Seeley Lake. About MM 14 on Highway 83 north turn west on Boy Scout Rd. It is about 2.5 miles to the campground. The entrance is on a curve going left.
About a block from the Highway is the mill for parking and catching the shuttle.
