Bradfield Baddlun on the Ocoee : |
Triathlon : Bike 10 Miles, Paddle 4 Miles, Run 4 Miles |
For some years now some friends and I have been talking about setting up a Mountain biking, paddling and running event on the Ocoee. Please join us for the first ever Bradfield Baddlun on the Ocoee. Scott Bradfield was a dear friend of mine and to a lot of my tribe, we unfortunately lost Scott on a high water day in the Smokies back in the summer of 2013. This event is in dedication to Scott, he was a hard charging kind of guy, he had deep love for adventure sports and he always wanted to partake in an event like this on the Ocoee. Here's to you Scotty B!
The Baddlun name was started by Brian Mattingly back in 2010. The name refers to parts of the words: bike, paddle and run. Bike...pADDLe.... rUN. There... is an annual Baddlun on the Russell Fork in the fall.
Race Course:
Start on your bike at the Upper Ocoee Put-in - bike up the road to the Brush Creek trail, do a loop and head back down to the put-in. ~10 miles
Paddle the Upper Ocoee, take out at Thunder Rock Campground. ~4 miles
Run the Copper Road Trail back to the Put-in. ~4 miles
You'll find a race course map with some other details on this page.
The cost of the race is free. Please bring some schwag to throw in for the awards.
This is a homegrown, grassroots kind of race. There will be minimal support so race at your own risk. We will discuss rules and safety at the pre race meeting.
Paddle whatever craft you are comfortable with. Wavehoppper, Longboats, creekboats, playboats, shredder, raft, inflatable couch, whatever....
Thank you and I hope to see you August 22nd!
