2015 Maine Walks with Haiti and 4-Mile Run
Join us for a fun 4-mile run around Portland’s Back Cove! This family-friendly event raises money to support the efforts of Konbit Sante Cap-Haitien Health Partnership, a Maine-based organization that has been working since 2001 to improve health care in Portland’s Sister City. Runners will be timed and the first 250 paid registrants will receive a T-shirt.
Registration for youths is $10 and adults is $15 (pre-register) or $20 the day of event. Children under 12 are free, but will need to register the day of the race to receive a runner’s bib and be timed. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 males and the top 3 females.
Course Information:
The course is an easy, flat loop around Portland's beautiful Back Cove along a wide gravel train which is groomed. Views of the cove make it great venue for a most scenic run. It is a perfect way to ease from a 5k distance to a 4-mile distance. We'll have one water stop roughly half-way through the course.
Directions:
Preble Street, Across from Hannaford
- Take I-295 to Exit 6B and make a right onto Forest Ave.
- Make your first right onto Baxter Boulevard.
- Then make your first right onto Preble St.
- Back Cove Park will be on your left, across from Hanaford Supermaket

The event hosts a festival with live Haitian and American folk music, Haitian storytelling, entertainment by Scarborough’s Gym Dandies and Lincoln Academy‘s Maine Music Outreach, Haitian art for sale, food by Federal Spice, ice cream, and more.
