Triathlon : Swim 1.2 Miles, Bike 56 Miles, Run 13.1 Miles |
The 1.2 mile swim will be in the pristine waters of Lake Guntersville. The triathlon will have wave starts beginning at 8 a.m. A schedule for waves will be added to the site prior to the event. Triathletes will follow the bouys in a rectangle stretching across the water in front of the Goosepond ampitheater. Triathletes will swim the course counterclockwise with 7 foot tall yellow corner bouys clearly marking the turns on the swim course. In between the turn bouys there will be a number of orange colored bouys to mark the swim course. The swim course will be well marked.
The swim course will be a two lap swim.
The 56 mile bike makes use of the natural terrrain of the area. Scottsboro is located in the Sequatchie Valley in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The bike route will be flat and fast, giving triathletes a chance to set personal records.
The 13.1 mile run will have triathletes leave transition and run along the golf course before turning into the campground. After circling the campground, runners will head out Bob Jones Road to a scenic run into the new communities along Lake Guntersville. This is a two loop course. Runners will complete a loop of the run course before returning to the turn around near transition.
The run course will offer plenty of shade and runners will get views of Lake Guntersville as well as plentiful wildlife.
Triathletes will enjoy the finishline as they return to transition and finish in front of their family and friends at the The Docks Restaurant
