Triathlon : Swim 80 Yards, Bike 3 Miles, Trail Run 1 Mile |
MINI TRIATHLON
SA, mar 21 • 8am • SWimming pool • 335-4379 • open to general public.
This is a very short course but a great way to introduce your-self into the world of triathlon; 80yd swim, 3mile bike, and 1mile trail run. Ages 7 and over, individuals or teams (kids/parents are encouraged to partner up). Must be able to swim 80 yards and wear bright color shirt for bike. Due to size of pool we have limited participants, so sign up early; sign up deadline is March 14th. Event T-shirt, participation medal, and award certificate for top 3 in each age group. There will be an award ceremony 1100 at Shenanigan’s with a special post-race lunch available: Cost per person with lunch (turkey club, fries, 1 drink). Support crew cost per person for lunch only: $11.00. Contact Erick at 335-4983 for more info.
Safety:
Participants must be 7 years old and must be able to swim 80 yards. Parent and child may participate together as a team. Bike/run must wear a bright shirt and no headphones. All biker’s must wear helmet, bright shirt, and have two working brakes. Participants must bring all their own equipment (swim googles, shoes, bike, bright shirt...)
PRIZES
10 & Under, 10-13, 14-18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+
There will be an award ceremony 1100 at Shenanigan’s with a special post-race lunch.
Cost per person including lunch ceremony (turkey club, fries, 1 drink): general public $23.
Cost for any support crew per person for lunch only (turkey club, fries, 1 drink): $11.00

GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION
Swim 80 yards, Bike 2.8miles, Run 1 mile (on trail)
SWIM:
Swim will be single file start with one swimmer starting every 10 seconds. Triathletes will be assigned a number; #1 being the fastest swimmer, #2 the next fastest swimmer... Swimmers will line up in order and the #1 swimmer will start at the gun and every 10 second interval the next swimmer in line will follow.
At each turn swimmers will pass under the lane line into the next lane. Swim will be 4 lengths. At the last lane swimmers will exit the water. If you are passing be careful not to get kicked by the swimmer in front of you.
Walk out of the pool area safely before jogging to bikes
BIKE: 2.8 miles
Security will monitor traffic on roads (Tartar/Nohili and at pool turn). Bikers may ride through the intersections without having to stop unless security signals the biker to stop):
Run: 1 mile on coral trail.
Just a quick reminder for athletes not to forget:
Swimming goggles, Shoes: run and/or bike, Bike and BIKE HELMET
OPTIONAL ITEMS:
Sunscreen, sunglasses, pre/postworkout fuel, bike gloves, hydration pack, towel.
MWR will provide water, Gatorade, post-race snacks, medals, t-shirts.
FULL RACE COURSE DETAILS WILL BE SENT TO ALL COMPETITORS PRIOR TO THE RACE.
