Man Down : Off Road |
Obstacle/Mud Runs : Adventure Run With Obstacles |
This is an off-road course traversing along the lake. There are 20+ man-made obstacles, plus plenty of natural terrain to maneuver. We build our events around strength and conditioning exercises and a military-inspired obstacle concept…focusing on the obstacles, not gimmicks. If you’re looking for a silly afternoon of wrestling foam, dodging colored dye, or fighting your way through a sea of mythical creatures...this isn’t it. Man Down™ is a physical agility challenge. You’ll have an amazing time, but you are going to work for it.
Millerton Lake State Recreation Area is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, approximately 15 miles east of Fresno, CA, and is an amazing location for a wide variety of recreational opportunities. The hills surrounding the lake provide varied terrain perfect for trail running and obstacle racing.
Schwag =
Man Down custom finishers dog tag medal
Man Down wearable swag
One free adult beverage
Post-race entertainment
Amazing food and gear vendors
The ultimate Monday morning story.
Spectators = Spectators are always free. Spectators can hang in the designated festival area where they will have an up-close view of several of the obstacles and be within reaching distance of great food, swag for purchase, and the vendor area with gear on display.
Parking = Parking is right on-site, no shuttle needed. $10 per car, cash only. Carpooling is always a good idea, how else are you going to guarantee all your teammates show up?!
Post-Party = You will want to come and spend the day. Post race entertainment is guaranteed. The location is beautiful. Food and beverage vendors will be serving local deliciousness (think farmer’s market and food truck atmosphere), no fair food here. Gear and apparel vendors will be selling their latest wares.
Other Information = One of our core tenets at Man Down™ is to utilize the power of obstacle racing as a conduit to help change people’s lives by committing 10% of all ticket sales to non-profit organizations working to better our communities. Our primary charity we’ve partnered with is Building for America’s Bravest™ who constructs specially adapted smart homes for the most catastrophically injured service members. Our goal is to fund a house per event through pledges and donations. We challenge each participant to raise at least $100 in pledges and we have provided an easy way for individuals and teams to create their own fundraiser websites to share with family and friends: https://www.crowdrise.com/ManDownFresno2015.
Man Down™ events are non-timed events, because they’re not about time, but about the experience.
Must be at least 16 years old to participate in the race.
A special section will be designated allowing kids to experience smaller versions of the adult obstacles, where they can climb, jump, and tumble.
You do not have to be able to swim to compete.
Gear-check will be available, free of charge.
Changing area is available.
No wash/shower area (the events are mud-free).
Team Details = Being part of a team is essential to completing a Man Down™ event. Recommend teams of 3+ persons, but the event can be accomplished with a 2-person team.
