There are few places in multisport where only one word can describe the essence of the place and the event. In the Southeast that word is Logan or more specifically Lake Logan. For those who raced here or have heard the stories, Logan means breathtaking beauty, a wet-suit legal swim in the heat of the summer, a rolling bike course that is flatter than people imagine in the mountains and a shaded run course along a scenic river.
The 2015 edition of this event will see a new date and schedule that changes the order of the events but not the essence of the event. The weekend will be one week later in 2015, August 8-9, and will feature the Lake Logan Half on Saturday and the international and sprint races on Sunday. We will not have an Aquathlon in 2015 but will have Aquabike categories in the half and international.
Lake Logan Half
Saturday, August 8, 2015 - 7:00 a.m.
1.2 mile Swim, 56 mile Bike, 13.1 mile Run
The Lake Logan Half debuted in 2014 to amazing reviews and a sold out field. The 2015 race, being held by itself on Saturday, August 8. We expect this race to fill quickly once again.
The 1.2 mile one lap swim in this pristine mountain lake has a unique course starting near the main docks but finishing under the highway bridge in the mouth of the river. The 52-mile bike course will follow most of the International race course and include a loop through Clyde and the farmlands of northern Haywood County. The 13.1 mile two loop run course is an out-and-back along a two-lane, tree canopied road along the river. It has a 1-2% grade on the outbound leg, almost guaranteeing a negative split on the downhill inbound legs.
Lake Logan International Triathlon
Sunday, August 9, 2015 - 7:00 a.m.
1500 meter Swim, 24 mile Bike, 10K Run
The original triathlon at Lake Logan celebrates its 10th anniversary on Sunday, August 9. The international distance race has quickly become one of the premier races in the Southeast, attracting athletes from across the country. The new Sunday date provides a great option for couples wanting a variety of races to choose from over the weekend. The 2014 race sold out and we expect it will again this year.
Lake Logan Sprint Triathlon
Sunday, August 9, 2014 - 8:00 a.m.
