The Race for the Cannon enters its second year as a half distance event. A 1.2 mile wave start triangular swim course, followed by a rural rolling 56 mile bike ride (no major climbs) with three bottle exchanges. The run course will be two laps on the Kingston greenway and through downtown Kingston, with each lap running through famous Fort Southwest Point. The run course will include fully stocked aid stations ~ every mile. Sport Tek performance shirts and finisher medals to all participants, miniature cannon awards to age groups, and the coveted genuine cannonball awards to overall male and female winners. Expected half option participation—200.
Transition Area:
Transition area (Gravel Pit Park) opens at 6am on race morning. No bikes can be checked in on Friday night.
HALF STORM swim start
Swim start will be 3 waves (3 minute intervals), starting at 7:30am. Sprint Storm swim start will be 4 waves (2 minute intervals) starting at ~7:45. Wave breakdown yet to be determined.
Half Storm Bike course aid stations will be at mile 13, mile 24, mile 34 (turnaround), and mile 44. Water bottles exchange only at 13/24/44. Water bottles, Gatorade, bananas, and Power Bars will be available at mile 34. Energy gels will not be provided on the bike course.
There will be no bike course bottle exchange for the Sprint Storm.
Half Storm Run course aid stations will be ~every mile, and will include water, Gatorade, “flat” coca-cola, PowerGels (caffeinated and non-caffeinated), oranges, bananas, and pretzels.

Half Storm Time limits-Swim course cutoff is 8:50am—those not finishing the swim at that time will not be allowed to start the bike course. Bike course cutoff is 1:30pm—those not finishing the bike by that time will not be allowed to start the run course. Lap 1 of the run course time limit is 2:45pm—those not finishing the first lap by that time will not be allowed to start lap 2.
