The NC Rainbow Run is an untimed 5K trail race taking place on Saturday, March 7th at Old River Farms in Burgaw, North Carolina. The run is organized by two high school students with help from volunteers from the Hoggard High School GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance). All registration proceeds will benefit the Open
House, a center for homeless LGBT+ teens in Wilmington, NC. The
difference between our race and others is that ours is not about
speed--it's about raising funds! Awards will be given for individuals and teams raising the most for the organizations that help LGBT+ youth.
Course Information:
The race will be held at Old River Farms at 8711 Old River Rd. Burgaw, NC 28425. Old River Farms is family owned and run and in addition to hosting school field trips and community activities they also have a wonderful garden center
with fresh herbs, vegetables, and flowers. They also have a variety of
animals you can look at or pet such as goats, cows, sheep, and a horse.
The course for the fun run will take participants through the farm's
beautiful grounds. The course has rough terrain with many bumps and
small hills and takes you through the woods behind the farm.
