2014 Sarasota Music Half Marathon & Rockin' 4 Miler:
Sarasota is riding the wave of engaging endurance sports popularity, with the debut of its own music half marathon -- and Rockin’ 4 Miler – scheduled for Feb. 8, 2015.
The “13.1 Mile Moving party” is planned to have more bands, entertainment and along the route fun than any other half marathon or 4-mile course in the country. Billed as a Sarasota Signature Event, both races will start/finish at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, and designed to involve the community, residents and support 20+ local non-profits by showcasing the talent, beauty and history of the city and its neighborhoods.
Plans are underway to involve high school and local bands, with everything from Rock and Country to Gospel and Hip-Hop. A signature component will be Girl Scout Cookies along the route, as well as encouraging residents to stage their own lawn parties with organizers offering any resident a complimentary cowbell to cheer runners and walkers along the way. To register, volunteer or learn more, visit www.sarasotahalf.com.
The Sarasota Music Half Marathon is a walker friendly course and ideal for fast runners who love a crowd. Cut-off time is 4 hours or 18 mins/mi avg pace.
Your rockin’ fun experience begins at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, goes over the scenic and water-inspired Ringling Bridge to fashionable St. Armand’s Circle and back, past Marina Jack Bayfront Marina then heads into “old Sarasota” neighborhoods.
The route goes up Orange Avenue to Osprey through Harbor Acres, Cherokee Park, the Southside and West of the Trail neighborhoods and back to finish at Van Wezel. So much fun you’ll want to do it twice!
Rockin' 4 Miler Course
