Cyclists who have enjoyed the Tour of the Valley over the past 25 years know what spectacular cycling the Grand Valley offers. Our beautiful valley encompasses an inspiring variety of landscape that is sure to rouse your cycling spirit; from the rolling vineyard hills and peach orchards of Palisade and the farm fields of Fruita, to the spectacular sculptured canyons and red rock spires of the Colorado National Monument, you will be in awe of the landscape diversity of this magical valley.

We are excited to announce that the 55 and 100 mile route will include the ride across The Colorado National Monument along the spectacular Rim Rock drive. This allows riders to enjoy the legendary Tour of the Moon ride as part of our century course.

The Tour is not a race; we encourage you to set your own pace and enjoy beautiful Western Colorado. New this year, the Tour will include a 30, 50, route options and the full century. Both the 50 and 100 mile route will include the famous ride over the Colorado National Monument.

30, 55 and 100-Mile Route Options
This impressive and classic ride offers views of the entire Grand Valley and all it has to offer including the Colorado River, the Colorado National Monument, Mt. Garfield, the Grand Mesa, and Palisade fruit & wine country. All three routes start in Grand Junction and take riders north and west along the rural farm roads of western Colorado to Fruita.

30-mile Route
For those selecting to ride the FAMILY FITNESS 30-mile route, you will meander out of town heading west towards Fruita. You will enjoy the quiet and scenic farm roads of Fruita with the distance vistas of the red rock cliffs and the spires of the Colorado National Monument in the distance. Enjoy a rest stop in Fruita, hosted by the Fruita Chamber; this is also the turnaround point for the 30-mile riders. Parents please ride with children that require supervision to complete the event safely.

55 and 100-mile
The 55 and 100-mile routes proceed over the Colorado National Monument, home of the world-famous Coors Classic “Tour of the Moon” stage. With just over 3000 feet of climbing, the Colorado National Monument affords breathtaking highdesert views of the valley while riding on the twisting and turning Rim Rock Drive along sheer-walled, red rock canyons. Once over the monument, the 55 and 100-mile routes separate at the Botanical Gardens in Grand Junction. The 55-mile route makes its way to the finish through the historic district of Downtown Grand Junction. The 100-mile route continues east to Palisade through Orchard Mesa with the majestic Mt. Garfield and Grand Mesa in sight. Once in Palisade, the route winds its way back to the Botanical Gardens through orchards and vineyards full of peaches, apples, and grapes and proceeds to the finish through the historic district of Downtown Grand Junction. You won’t want to miss this!

Colorado National Monument Traffic Rules
    The CNM has established traffic enforcement measures on Rim Rock Drive. This means motorists and bicyclists are closely monitored as they travel through Colorado National Monument to ensure they follow posted speed limits, as well as the following new requirements for cyclists:
    • Bicyclists are required to have visible white lights in the front and red lights from the rear when riding through tunnels;
    • Ride single-file along right side of traffic lane and allow motorists to pass;
    • Bicyclists are encouraged to wear brightly colored & reflective clothing;
    • Bicyclists are encouraged to wear helmets;
    • Obey posted speed limits;
    • Stop completely at all stop signs.

Road Assistance
    The sag wagons generously provided by the Board & Buckle Ski & Cyclery will be available with water and road assistance. Please be prepared to handle your own flats and minor repairs.
