The Hazleton YMCA/YWCA, and Eagle Rock Resort are proud to announce our 9th annual Open Water Swim Races. The swims will be held at the base of the Eagle Rock Resort, on its crystal clear, spring fed Lake Susquehanna.
WHEN: Sunday August 10th 2014. The 200 yard swim will start at 9:00 a.m., The 500 Yard swim will start no earlier than 9:10 a.m., and the 1650 yard and 2mile swims will start no earlier than 9:30. Swimmer Check – In will run 8-8:30. Award Ceremony 11:30 a.m.
AGE GROUPS: Awards will be divided by age groups; 6 & under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up. Age will be determined as age the day of the meet.
COURSE: The 200 yard course will be out and back. A large floating green rock will be positioned at the 200 yard race turn around point. Swimmers must keep the markers on their left, circling it counter clockwise, and returning to the beach. A floating rope stretches the length of the 200 yard course to help keep swimmers on track.
The 500 yard course will be a triangular course. Swimmers will swim the course in a counter clockwise direction, always keeping the markers to their left, finishing on the beach.
The 1650 yard, and 2 Mile swim will start together. 1650 yard swimmers must swim one lap counter clockwise around a rectangular course, 2 Mile swimmers will do a second lap.
AWARDS: Commemorative T-shirts will be guaranteed to all registered prior to July 28th. Age group ribbons will be awards to 1st to 12th place swimmers in each age group.
ENTRIES/REGISTRATION: Early registration for this event will run through July 28th. Early registration entry fee will be $20.00 for one event, and an additional $5.00 per event for those who wish to ‘double dip’. Late registration will be $25.00 for one event, and an additional $5.00 per event for multiple entries. Pre-registration will close Wednesday Aug 6th. Same Day registrations will be taken Sunday, $30.00 for the 1st event, and $10 for additional events. Checks Payable to the Hazleton YMCA/YWCA.
