Testimonials

  • I could not be happier with the experience I've had with David Bertrand and the Playtri group training.  The group training gives one "accountability" and makes it much easier to drag yourself out of bed for those early morning training sessions!  Although triathlon is an individual sport, the group training atmosphere generated by David inevitably leads to a "team" spirit and collegiality.  This atmosphere is certainly a benefit, in my opinion, in a sport where long, solitary training sessions can eat away at one's energy level and lead to monotony.  Perhaps most importantly, David has designed a program that takes the daunting task of preparing for a triathlon and breaks it down into smaller, more manageable steps.  The result is a seamless process that removes the burden and tediousness of triathlon and leaves the fun aspects (the stuff we all love to do as kids--swim, bike and run!).  Finally, as a former college athlete, I have been around many great coaches my entire life and must say that David Bertrand is as good as any I have seen.  David has a unique energy level and a commanding presence when speaking about this sport he obviously loves so much.  Ultimately, David is a great motivator and any triathlete would benefit from the knowledge base he has accumulated over the years.  I guess all that is a long way of saying that I highly recommend David and his Playtri group training! • I dont really care for my name to be mentioned but I would really like to let everyone know how great the group training program I did this season was with David Bertrand through Playtri.  It was the first of its kind I believe and was setup to be for the Stonebridge race.  I actually signed up 2 weeks late and was making my A race the Toyota US Open so I got the 2 extra weeks of training back before my race.  I am not sure how long the program ended up being but it prepared me perfectly for the race. This was my first season for triathlons and I was not doing any triathlon specific training prior to the group training and was able to finish 2nd in my age group 24-29 and 2nd overall for the sprint division.  I can honestly say that my results would not have even been in the same ballpark if it were not for the program. I have now actually hired David as a personal coach as well and am moving on to two half ironmans this season so to everyone out there who is thinking about getting into triathlons be careful because this program will get you hooked!  Just hope everyone knows about the group training that Playtri offers and the results that it can produce!!! Thanks! -JM

  • The training program for Stonebridge was amazing! Prior to the group, I was your typical over-trained triathlete - training harder, not smarter & with absolutely no PURPOSE. I thought I was training and improving, but really I was just tearing down my body, and getting slower! I've never been coached, so the very first week I told David "I'll do whatever you tell me, and I will just trust that it will work out." I definitely had some reservations because some of the workouts didn't seem hard enough or long enough. I was afraid I wouldn't be ready....10 weeks later I had the best race of my life. I took 17 minutes off of my total time from the same race the year before, and I placed 1st in my age group! The fact that I improved so much, and so evenly across the 3 disciplines, says a lot about how we were trained. David is a big believer in "balance" both mentally and physically and clearly, it works. I can't say enough about how great David is, and how much I enjoyed the program. Now I just want more like it! Thanks David!! Marianna Clement

  • Training with the Playtri group was a great way for me to do my first tri.  David is an awesome coach and gave easy to understand training tips for those of us who don't get it the first time - he explains things!  The training schedule comes to you every Sunday so you can prepare for your week - it was so much fun and fulfilling.  Plus I made lots of new friends.  I'll do it again! Thank you, Becky Frey

  • I was a runner 10 weeks prior to completing my first Sprint Triathlon.  Other than nursing injuries, I had never spent any amount of time in the pool and had NEVER been on a road bike.  Other than getting faster I felt like I was at a stand-still with running and wanted something more - a challenge!  I also was looking to get stronger and experience a more balanced workout.  I got exactly what I asked for and more by training with Playtri. The group training was worth every penny spent and every hour in the pool, on the bike and in my running shoes!  I had no idea what I would gain - strength, knowledge, confidence and overall healthiness. Thank you Playtri, Coach David, and my group training teammates who spurred me on to completing my first Sprint Triathlon.  Can't wait to see you back on the course!! -Lauren Dempsey
