HALF COURSE INFO

The Swim: Athletes in the New England Trifest half will complete a 1.2 mile swim in pristine Lake Fairlee which is situated on the shores of Camp Horizons. Athletes in the half will be start the race at 7:00am and will be sent in waves. The swim will be marked with large orange buoys for easy sighting and supported by a team of lifeguards and emergency medical personnel. After completing the swim athletes will exit the water and run along a grassy path, go under a bridge that runs under Route 244 and proceed onto transition.

The Bike: The bike course is a 28 mile loop that will be completed twice for a total of 56 miles. The bike course will wind through Fairlee, Norwich, Thetford (including Thetford State Forest and a climb of Thetford Hill) and West Fairlee. Keep your eyes peeled and you may also see the famed "Vermontasaurus"! The course will be marked with signage and staffed with volunteers, police and traffic control personnel to get you safely around the course. There will also be one water bottle exchange on the loop for athletes to re-fuel with a bottle of water or an electrolyte drink. Course map and cue sheet available here: http://www.sunmultisportevents.com/New_England_Trifest/Course_Info.htm  .

The Run: Athletes in the half will run a 13.1 mile out and back loop that is primarily along Middlebrook Road in Fairlee. This is a scenic run past farms, woods, ponds and country homes. The first 4.25 miles of the run has a slight increase in elevation (approximately 80 feet). The run course climbs approximately 400 feet from mile 4.25 to the turnaround station at mile 6.5 located on Scrutton Hill Road. After reaching the turnaround station, athletes will experience a "downhill" run back to Camp Horizons and onto the finish. The run course will feature mile markers at each mile and 10 aid stations staffed by enthusiastic volunteers and stocked with water, electrolyte drink, flat coca-cola, gels, pretzels, oranges and bananas.
