Race Website:
Established in 1981, the Santa Barbara Triathlon is one of the longest running triathlons in the world. We expect another record year of participation with a full field of approximately 1900 athletes to come out and be a part of this exciting community event. The local support from the business community and the hundreds of volunteers that participate each year has afforded us the reputation as one of the best-organized triathlons in the country.  Both elite athletes and first-time competitors are drawn to the Santa Barbara Triathlon for its temperate climate and beautiful scenery.  Our field of participants includes mostly western-state athletes but international competitors and elites always show up to see how they match up against Santa Barbaras best
Course Information:

The Sprint Course athletes complete a 500-yard ocean swim, six-mile bike, and two-mile run.  The calm ocean swim, relatively flat bike and nearly flat run make for a perfect introduction to the sport of triathlon. This course has proven popular with both experienced triathletes and novices alike.  The addition of the Women-Only Sprint on Sunday has increased our female participation to almost 50%.  We even have a Parent-Child wave in our Sprint Course that was designed to encourage family participation and allow children under 15 to participate with some assistance. All events have start, finish and transition areas located at the historic East Beach Cabrillo Pavilion.
