In 2014, the Salvation Army is launching their first Ring in the New Year 5K. This is an opportunity for the members of our area to participate in an activity that matches their passion, while serving their community. Many races in the area cost a fee of $30 per person. This race costs a fee of three hours. We ask that participants ring a Kettle Bell for three hours in order to be exempt from the $30 fee. All proceeds from the Red Kettle Campaign go directly to support The Salvation Armys community programs throughout the year. That means, the three hours you spend ringing could help put dinner on the table for a family, or it may keep their heat running during the cold winter months.
For more information on locations, dates and times available for kettles, please visit ourRed Kettle Website, or register to ring here.
Save yourself some cash, help empower your community and participate in something you love Ring in the New Year with us, January 11, 2014.
The race will be on the American Tobacco Trail in Durham. This 5K will begin in Solite Park, where you will run an out-and-back course, which is relatively flat. This course provides a great opportunity for you to improve your personal record, because it is quick and smooth. The start time is 11:00 a.m. and we suggest that you arrive around 10:00 a.m. to receive your racing materials and begin your warm up routine.
