triathlon : Kayak 1.5 miles (in place of swim), Bike 15.5 miles, Run 3 miles |
Kayak-Racers will make a water start in the Pamlico River and paddle 1.5 miles around three buoys and finish back at shore. Racers will then have an approximate 400 yard run on a semi-paved trail to the bike transition area. Shoes are recommended. The race will be split into several heats at 5 minute intervals for men, women, and teams.
Bike- The 15.6 mile out and back course is on paved, flat country roads. The leg begins within Goose Creek State Park and racers will enjoy the country setting and a view of the Pamlico River as you enter the turn around area at Dinah's Landing. Roads will be open to traffic.New This Year: There will be a cutoff for official race results with the race time limit of 2 hours and 40 minutes. At 2 hours and 40 minutes the official timed finish line will shut down. A time clock will continue running for all participants that finish after the time cutoff. It is hoped that all participants will finish the race in less than 2 hours and 40 minutes from their kayak start time.
