Summary:

The inaugural Boo Bash Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned race which will consist of two events this year:  a Sprint Tri and a Newbie Tri...  The Start and Finish for the Tri is at the Portland Community Center.  The swim portion of the Tri will be held in the Community Center pool for all the events.  This Tri is being presented by the City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department, Zeri Events along with the Corpus Christi Triathlon Club (formerly known as STARRS).  A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Colin’s Hope.  Timing for the event will be by Pendgo Timing.

Event Details:

Sprint Tri:  400 yard Swim, 14 mile Bike and 5K Run for Ages 15 and Up.

Newbie Tri:  200 yard Swim, 6 mile Bike and 1 mile Run for Ages 15 and Up.

Sprint Tri Relay:  400 yard Swim, 14 mile Bike and 5K Run for Ages 15 and Up.  Minimum relay team size is two (2) people.  Maximum relay team size is three (3) people.  Relay teams may be all Male, all Female or Mixed.

The Newbie Tri is designed for those individuals who have not previously done a Tri or those who have only done one other Tri.  The Newbie allows individuals to "Try a Tri".  If you have always wanted to do a Tri, the Newbie is for you!

Age Eligibility:  You must be at least 15 years of age on the Event Date of October 12, 2013 to participate.

Packet Pickup:

Corpus Christi – Thursday, October 10th at Bay Area Bicycles from 4pm. To 7pm.  Bay Area Bicycles is located at 6020 South Padre Island Drive (SPID), Corpus Christi, TX 78412.

Portland – Friday, October 11th at (Sponsor) from 4pm to 6pm.  (Sponsor) is located at (Address of Sponsor).

Remember to bring your USAT membership card to packet pickup if you are a member.  If you do not have your USAT card OR if you are not a member of USAT, you will be required to purchase a one day USAT membership to obtain your packet (No Exceptions).  All participants must bring some form of governmental ID card to packet pickup.  One day USAT membership is $12 for Adults 18 and Over and $10 for Youth 15 to 17.

The Newbie Swim will take place immediately after the last Sprint Swim enters the water.  The Newbie Bike will utilize a portion of the Sprint Bike.  The Newbie Run will also utilize a portion of the Sprint Run.


Event Location:

City of Portland Community Center, 2000 Billy G. Webb, Portland, TX 78374.  Transition opens at 6:30am and closes at 7:45am.  Please arrive at least one hour prior to transition close.  Newbies; arrive early.

One Day USAT Membership:

You MUST be covered by USAT supplemental insurance to participate in the Boo Bash Triathlon; NO Exceptions.  You are covered by USAT insurance if you are a member of USAT.  If you are not a member of USAT, you must purchase a one day membership to USAT.  The one day membership for USAT is $12 for Adults ages 18 and up and $10 for Youth ages 17 and under.  If you are not a USAT member, you can purchase your one day membership when you register for the event.  You can also purchase your one day membership at packet pickup.  The registration fee for the event does not include the one day membership for USAT or the cost of a USAT membership.  The $12 fee or the $10 fee is collected by Zeri Events on behalf of USAT.

Awards:  (Awards are based on USAT Age.  USAT Age is determined as of December 31st, 2013)

Sprint Tri Individual - Overall Male / Female (15 to 39) and Overall Masters Male / Female (40 to 99).  1st / 2nd / 3rd Male and Female for age group awards.

Newbie Tri Individual - Overall Male / Female (15 to 39) and Overall Masters Male / Female (40 to 99).  No age group awards for Newbie.

Sprint Tri Relay - 1st / 2nd / 3rd Overall Relay Team.  No Age group awards for Relay.

Registration Fees:  (Absolutely NO Race Day Registrations!)

Sprint Tri Individual (Ages 15 to 99)

$60.00 before August 31st     $75.00 from September 1st to October 10th       $90.00 at Packet Pickup

Newbie Tri Individual (Ages 15 to 99)

$55.00 before August 31st   $60.00 from September 1st to October 10th       $70.00 at Packet Pickup

Sprint Tri Relay (Ages 15 to 99) - Team Price (NOT per person price)

$85.00 before August 31st   $100.00 from September 1st to October 10th       $120.00 at Packet Pickup
