Tri Graeagle is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event that will occur on the Sunday of Labor day weekend and include two races: 1) Sprint Distance Triathlon; and 2) Olympic Distance Triathlon. The Sprint race course is suitable for beginner triathletes and will entail a 0.3 mile swim in the Graeagle Mill Pond, a 12 mile bike ride consisting of three trips around the Mohawk loop, and a 3 mile run from the Mill Pond to Blairsden and back. All bike and run legs will occur on paved roads. The Sprint course will have one aid station. The Olympic distance course is suitable for intermediate to advanced athletes and will entail a .7 mile swim in the Graeagle Mill Pond, a very challenging 21 mile bike ride up the Gold Lake Road and back down, and a 6.2 mile run up to Plumas Pines and back. The bike and run legs will occur on paved roads. The Olympic course will have two aid stations. Both races will have transition areas 1 and 2 near the Mill Pond within a shared fenced area.
A kids dip and dash mini-triathlon will also be held after adult athletes have finished their races. The event will include a free BBQ lunch post-race with music provided.
Race packet pick-up will be required on Saturday, the day before the races. To enhance the race weekend experience, CME and partners will host a golf tournament for racers at beautiful Graeagle Meadows Golf Course and a stand-up-paddle board race at the Mill Pond on Saturday, the day before the triathlon.
