The 5K is a relatively flat and fast 3.1-mile course beginning at the Storm King Firehouse on Hudson Street in the center of quaint and historic Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. The route transverses through and around the Village allowing runners and walkers to take in views of the Hudson River, as well some historic home sites, local restaurants and businesses.
The course has been certified by Brian Cavanagh. Custom-designed shirts guaranteed to all pre-registered for 5K and 7.5 Mile. This race is registered with the Enjoy a runners banquet of oranges, bananas, bagels, cream cheese, coffee, water and gatorade with pizza and pastas following the race provided by Leo's Pizza in downtown Cornwall.
Come enjoy the stunning views from the dramatic Hudson River to the more bucolic Cornwall environs. You'll see why after docking at what is now Cornwall Landing, Henry Hudson felt this would be a good place to found a town.
7.5 Mile Scenic Challenge will include parts of the 5K route with views of the Hudson River, Storm King Mountain and, of course, the beautiful Fall foliage. It is a challenging course with a one mile uphill climb that at mile 5 provides a beautiful panoramic view of Cornwall and Orange County territories noth - even the Newburgh Beacon Bridge on a clear day! There is a water table near the top. Followed by that panormic view is a sweeping downhill finish where the streets are lined with well-wishers.
The Kid's Race is a relatively flat, fast and furious .3 mile course beginning at the Storm King Firehouse on Hudson Street in the center of quaint and historic Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. The course is an out-and-back route and features a thrilling and dizzying hair-pin turn at the midway-point whereupon the runners reverse direction and return to the start/finish line. Parents are advised to keep back from the course to avoid flying elbows and airborne road debris.
The Kid's Race course has been certified by veteran Cornwall Lion - and very nearly the oldest Cornwall Lion in existence [and capitivity] - Chick Jergens - who will place the race pylons on the course his very own self. The Kids Fun Run, as you might imagine is a huge hit - so bring your camera for the exciting photo-finish! The road will be closed for this event.
