The Center Recreation Beginner Triathlon is held each year at the Sand Dunes Swimming Pool in Hooper, Colorado. The philosophy of the event is to celebrate the accomplishments of all triathletes who participate. Participants are given a T-Shirt, a goody-bag, breakfast (after the event), and first timers receive a medal upon completion. Awards are not given for finishing in the fastest time, as the celebration for competing is left at the personal level. Finishers can also choose a special someone to hang their medal on them when they complete the event.
The Center Beginner Triathlon course, as it is geared for beginners, is ALL FLAT! The swim takes place at the Sand Dunes Recreation Pool, which is usually heated to around 95 degrees. The bike ride is an out and back 12 mile loop on flat, paved roads. The run is a 5K out and back flat course on paved and dirt roads. Aid stations are available at the mid way point on each course.

Prepare for this triathlon by following the training program at http://www.centertriathlontraining.com/training.html
The purpose of this program will be to get you prepared to complete a sprint triathlon in June of 2013. Why do this? It is our belief that when we set goals, even goals that appear at first glance to be physically impossible, and we achieve them, we grow personally and professionally in immeasurable ways. In addition, training for a triathlon causes you to get in the best shape imaginable. Since you will be focusing on 3 events, youll get a full body workout each week and you wont get into a training rut.
We don't post results, but we do a post triathlon video each year. Here is the 2012 race video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=b_-GrNo0hEI
