Race Course:
The race starts with an open water swim, followed by an undulating run on sand, grass and gravel trails.
The bike is mostly on dirt roads and non-technical trails, suiting mountain, cross, or road bikes with large diameter, aggressive tread tires.
Directions:
Boulder Reservoir:
From US 36 heading towards Boulder, turn right onto Foothills Pkwy/CO-157 N.
Go north on Foothills for 5.2 miles (Foothills becomes CO-119/Diagonal Hwy.)
Turn sharp left onto Jay Rd/CR-44 and continue 0.2 miles.
Turn right onto N 51st St and continue 1.4 miles to Reservoir Rd.
Turn right and continue 0.1 miles to the Boulder Reservoir entrance gate.

The race course is achievable for first time triathletes and will still challenge elites.
Newton Trail Triathlon includes elements of surprise, suiting those who want a fresh take on this popular sport.
Unlike traditional races, this event is in swim - run - bike order and does not allow time trial or triathlon specific bikes.
