_ The 2024 Island Montessori Tinted Turtle Trot:

Island Montessori School will hold the ninth annual Tinted Turtle Trot 5k and 1 Mile Run on Sunday, April 21st at Mike Chappell Park in Carolina Beach. This year’s event features a Kids’ Dash for younger participants as well as 5K and 1-mile races.

The run has a colorful twist: runners and walkers will experience color explosions before and during the race! Our event is unique to this area!  This year the color is provided by Goblies Throwable Paintballs! These paintballs are made with a soft seaweed cover so they are biodegradable, non-toxic, and the paint is WASHABLE! We still encourage protective eyewear when participating in the color blast before the race. A simple pair of sunglasses would help to avoid paint in the eyes.

Registration for the 5K event is currently $30, with discounts provided to school, athletic, corporate, and community teams. Registration fees increase after March 22nd. Participants can register at www.TintedTurtletrot.com before March 23rd to be guaranteed a shirt. 

An awards ceremony will be held at our After Race Party (location TBD) in Carolina Beach after the 5K. Awards ceremonies will begin no later than 11:30am for all races.

Proceeds of the race will benefit Island Montessori School – the only free and public Montessori education offered in New Hanover County.
