_ The 2024 BoFish Triathlon presented by Happy Place:
In its 5th year, the BoFish continues to be the most unique, fun, personalized, and challenging triathlon in the area. Race Directors Ian Hall & Andre Schunk developed the race to emphasize all the things they love about their 30+ years of racing (joy, swag, community), while removing the junk they don't like (stress, 14 inches of transition space, etc.)
A not-for-profit event, the BoFish raises money for the Cardinal Sheehan Youth Center in Bridgeport, CT. The race is capped @ 75 competitors, to ensure a welcoming, personalized experience. Each racer will have his/own transition "pod", with a chair, personal welcome sign, and event towel for transition. The ~1 mile up-and-back swim takes place in the gorgeous Pinewood Lake, where you will be greeted with pine trees at every breath, and perhaps some spectators cheering you on from their doc. The bike is a challenging 25-mile up-and-back through Trumbull Shelton and Monroe. Hilly on the way out, and fast on the way back. Prior to cycling back into transition, racers will get glimpse of the challenging run course. The 5-mile course consists of 2 loops around the lake. Although a scenic, tree-lined experience, it is likely the hardest triathlon run, relative to distance, you'll ever encounter. We like to call it "beautifully painful".
In addition to the best swag you'll ever receive @ a tri (hat, t-shirt, beach towel), the BoFish also boasts the best hardware of any race around, as Thule has been the BoFish's tremendous partner. In 2023 our male and female winners each received a Thule XTR-Pro bike rack, while 2nd and 3rd place finishers received Thule luggage.
We hope you join us at the 5th Annual BoFish Triathlon to start off your race season!
