_ The 2024 Trinona Kids Triathlon:
Welcome to the Trinona Kids Triathlon presented by the Morrie Miller Athletic Foundation.
Trinona Kids is a USAT-sanctioned event that is the perfect introduction to the world of triathlons for ages 6 to 15.
Please note if signing up in 2023, race distances are based on the participant's age on December 31, 2024.
Each triathlete will swim in the Winona Family YMCA's pool, then bike and run on beautiful Lake Winona's paved multi-use path all under the iconic Sugarloaf Bluff. Bring the entire family for an awesome morning of fun, low-key athletic competition, along with a great post-race awards gathering, food, and more.
USAT membership is required to participate.
Course Information:
The triathlon begins with an organized swim in Winona's Family YMCA pool. Distances vary by age and each swimmer is assigned their own lane. Wave starts by age group to help keep things organized and safe.
After exiting the pool through the family locker room, children will be guided directly to the Transition 1 area, located behind the YMCA. Athletes will put on their helmets and shoes, before grabbing their bikes. Once on the course, they will ride an out-and-back loop along the north side of Lake Winona. Volunteers will help with directions as the young racers make their way back to the Transition 2 area in Unity Park after completing their designated distance.
After parking their bikes in Transition 2, the athletes will head out onto the run course doing an out-and-back loop along the south side of Lake Winona. Athletes will race their way toward the finish line after reaching the turnaround for their designated distance. Volunteers, refreshments, and a finisher medal will greet each and every athlete when they complete their triathlon.
All finishers receive a finisher medal, event t-shirt, and other giveaways. Stick around for the post-race party and snacks!
Age group awards will be given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Schedule of Events:
- 7:00 am - Check-in, Body Marking, and both transitions open
- 8:00 am - Transitions close
- 8:30 am - Swim waves begin with the youngest participants and work up to the oldest participants
- 11:00 am or when the last participant finishes - Awards Ceremony

Racing Age 6: Swim 25 yards / Bike 2k / Run1k
Racing Age 7-8: Swim 75 yards / Bike2k / Run 1k
Racing Age 9-10: Swim 100 yards / Bike 3k / Run 1k
Racing Age 11-12: Swim 200 yards/ Bike 7k/ Run 2k
Racing Age 13-15: Swim 250 yards/ Bike 10k/ Run 3k
