_ The 2024 TriWaco Triathlon:
Did you know Waco is the home of the first triathlon ever held in the state of Texas? The Waco Striders hosted the first triathlon in May 1980 with 24 men and one woman competing in the Olympic distance at Lake Waco with the staging area at Speegleville Park.
The event grew to 500 entries with a waiting list each year, with many triathletes considering the Waco Triathlon the best in Texas. The last Waco Triathlon was held in 1991 and was reimagined as what is now TriWaco in 2009.
We are confident that TriWaco will continue to grow in popularity year after year and continue to be one of the most challenging and fun triathlons in the state.

Directions:
From Dallas, traveling south on I-35, take Exit 335B, University Parks Drive. Turn RIGHT onto University Parks Drive. Follow it until you arrive at Washington Avenue. Turn LEFT on Washington Avenue. The Convention Center will be on your left, with the main doors facing Washington Avenue. It is across the street from the Courtyard by Marriott on one side, the Suspension Bridge and Indian Spring Park on another side, and connected by a covered walkway to the Hilton Waco.
From Austin, traveling north on I-35, take Exit 335B, University Parks Drive. Turn LEFT onto University Parks Drive. Follow it until you arrive at Washington Avenue. Turn LEFT on Washington Avenue. The Convention Center will be on your left, with the main doors facing Washington Avenue. It is across the street from the Courtyard by Marriott on one side, the Suspension Bridge and Indian Spring Park on another side, and connected by a covered walkway to the Hilton Waco.
From Houston, traveling north on Highway 6, take the Orchard Lane exit. Turn LEFT onto Orchard Lane. Follow Orchard Lane until you reach Martin Luther King Blvd. Turn RIGHT. This will be near McLane Stadium, Baylor’s football stadium. Follow Martin Luther King Blvd. until you arrive at Washington Avenue. Turn LEFT on Washington Avenue and cross over the bridge at the Brazos River. The Convention Center will be on your left, at the corner of Washington Avenue and University Parks Drive. The main doors face Washington Avenue.
