This race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and will feature official race courses for Youth & Junior Elite Divisions looking to qualify for USAT Nationals.

The California Youth Triathlon

The California Youth Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and will feature Draft-legal courses for Junior Elite Athletes (16-19) and for Youth Triathlons 13-15 - with separate courses for athletes 11-12, and 10 and under.

All athletes must be members of USAT to compete in any of the races. If you do not have an annual USAT membership, you must purchase a one-day USAT membership when registering online or on race morning.

According to USA Triathlon rules, athlete’s will compete in the age group based on their age on 12/31/2024.

The race will take place at Granite Beach, Folsom Lake SRA, with water temperatures in the mid 60’s. Wetsuits are recommended, not required.

Included with entry is a custom hydration bottle, along with a post-race meal. Individual awards will be given out three-deep in each age-group division.

Race Distances
750 meter Swim - 11 mile Bike - 3 mile Run 
Junior Elite 16-17 & 18-19 yr olds. Draft Legal. 

300 meter Swim - 5 mile Bike - 2 mile Run 
Youth 13-15 yr olds. Draft Legal.

200 meter Swim - 5 mile Bike - 2 mile Run 
Youth 11-12 yr olds. 

100 meter Swim - 3 mile Bike - 1 mile Run 
Youth 7-10 yr olds. 

The races start from Granite Beach in Folsom Lake SRA, where the water will be approximately 64 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended, not required.

Rules and Regulations

Athletes must be registered with USA Triathlon. Wetsuits are recommended for the Triathlon. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc... are not allowed.

TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Race transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Participant transfers are allowed for this event, with a $25 fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held Rain or Shine.
