_ The 2023 Central Lakes Cycle David Grotberg Memorial 24/7:
Online registration closes at noon on Friday, September 23. Racers will be able to sign up on race day at the event site.
To guarantee a finisher's medal, sign up by September 1st.The Central Lakes Cycle David Grotberg Memorial 24/7 Duathlon will be held on Saturday. September 23, 2023. The 24/7 takes place in Fergus Falls MN, on paved roads and the scenic paved Central Lakes Trail. The course, that starts at Central Lakes Cycle, will be a 20 bike ride on county paved roads and the The Central Lakes Trail, followed by a 4 mile run on trails and paved roads, finishing with a 7 mile bike sprint on paved roads.
Race Location
The Central Lakes Cycle 24/7 Duathlon will be held at Central Lakes Cycle 2010 State Highway 210 East Fergus Falls MN, 56537. We are located just east of the scenic Central Lakes Trail trail head. The course offers a beautiful ride through rolling hills as well as a nice flat competitive stretch on the trail.
Chip Timing
The duathlon will be chip timed by Pickle Events. Chips from relay teams must be returned to volunteers at the finish line. There will be a fee of $30 for non-returned chips.
Schedule
PACKET PICK UP AND RACE DAY REGISTRATION START AT NOON RACE STARTS AT 2:00 P.M.
The race will be a time trial start and will start from the northeast corner of our parking lot.
Proceeds for the race will go to the David Grotberg Baylor University Golden Wave Marching Band Endowed Scholarship. David Grotberg was a 19-year-old sophomore trumpet player in the Baylor University Golden Wave Marching Band when he was killed on October 6, 2016. He was killed by a hit and run driver while riding his bike to campus. David was a University Scholar and BIC student in the Honors College and the president of the Ball Room Dance Society. David grew up in Fergus Falls, Minnesota and at 12 years old began working at Central Lakes Cycle with his dad. He continued to work at the shop during the summer while he was in college. He will be forever missed. As his band director said, "David's positivity, love for life and everlasting smile will illuminate our hearts 'as long as stars shall shine.'"
