Our inaugural The Great Escape Kids and Youth Triathlon will be held Saturday, June 10 at Ellis-Porter Riverside Park in Jefferson City. Race start is 7 p.m. This family event kicks off a weekend of races with The Great Escape sprint, sprint relay, super sprint and duathlon taking place at the park Sunday morning, June 11. Proceeds from The Great Escape Triathlons benefit scholarship programs for the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation swimming program and the Jefferson City YMCA aquatics and competition swimming programs.
There will also be a Sprint Triathlon on Sunday Morning.
Course Information:
Courses for the Great Escape Kid's Tri are not yet final, but most of each race will be within the park. The swim portion will be in the 50-meter Ellis-Porter pool. Distances for the kid's triathlon for ages 5-8 will be approximately: swim 25 meters; bike 1.50-1.75 miles; run .50 mile. Distances for the youth triathlon for ages 9-12 will be approximately: swim 100 meters; bike 3-3.25 miles; run 1.25-1.50 miles.
