_ The 2023 Tri-Warriors Youth Triathlon:
This triathlon was primarily started to introduce the sport of triathlon to our American Indian community. The Lumbee Tribe is a primary contributor to the county having the highest obesity rate in the state. As a result, our goal is to promote this sport to our tribe and community, while also encouraging a more healthier life style for all youth in our county.
Course Information:
Distances for Boys and Girls 6- 15
Age 6-10 Age 11-15
50 yard swim 100 yard swim
3 mile bike ride 6 mile bike ride
1 mile run 2 mile run
Swim: Pool swim on campus (floaties are permitted)
Bike: Bike portion is off campus on a closed road with numerous volunteers and police officers along
the course (younger kids are permitted to use training wheels)
Run: Run course is totally flat, with a portion on the sidewalk. The run is on camp
