The 1500 meter swim is a double loop course in crystal clear Lake Dunmore. The course is extremely well marked and easy to follow. Swimmers are never more than 70 meters away from shore. The Lake is almost always calm and water temperatures generally average between 75 and 83 degrees. Swimmers are guarded by Kayakers in water that averages about 8 feet deep with the deepest point being 15 feet.
Water temperature ranges from a pleasant 74-82 degrees.
Wetsuits are always legal.
A two loop rolling course around Lake Dunmore and Fern Lake. There is one decent 190-foot climb over 3/4 of a mile that tops out at 7%. Total gain for both loops is 1390 feet. The roads are in excellent condition and are as scenic as any you will find. Traffic is extremely light on all the roads except Rt 7 where there is a wide shoulder. Officers and Marshals will be on the extremely well marked, safe course which consists of only right-hand turns, never crossing traffic.
The 10K run is a simple out and back on paved, lightly traveled, RT 53. Runners proceed out of the park and turn south on Rt 53. There are two short hills at .25 miles and 2.25. Both gain about 45 feet. After that, the course is basically flat with those hills (downhills) on the way back to the park. Total elevation gained and lost is 265 feet. There are three Heed and Water stations every 1.5 miles. The course is very scenic and shady as it winds through the tall trees of the beautiful green mountain forest
