_The 2022 Kids Tri For Kids - Riviera Club:
Overview
The Riviera Club Kids TRI for Kids events will consist of a Triathlon and a Duathlon. 7–8-year-old athletes will do a 100-meter swim, or a .6 mile run to start, a 1.8-mile bike and finish with a .6-mile run. 9–10-year-old athletes will do a 100-meter swim, or a .6 mile run to start, a 3.6-mile bike and finish with a .6-mile run. The 11–14-year-old athletes will swim 200 meters, or a .6 mile run to start, 5.4-mile bike and finish with a 1.2-mile run.
Below, you will find lots of important information pertaining to the race. Please take the time to review this information as it will make your experience (whether you are an athlete or a spectator) at the event much more enjoyable.
USAT Membership
This race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the national governing body for triathlons. All athletes need to be registered through USAT. Youth memberships are $10.00 for the entire year. Please visit the USAT website – USAT Membership Hub (https://member.usatriathlon.org/login) - to purchase your membership before the race. After you complete this process, you will be asked to print your temporary membership card. Please do so and bring this card with you to race registration.
Parking
Parking is located in the parking lot on the north side of the property and west of the transition. Please be aware that once the race has started, cars won’t be allowed to enter or leave so that we can keep the race course free of cars.
Packet Pick-up & Registration
There will be day-of-event registration that will open at 7:00 AM and conclude at 8:30 am. Packet Pick up and Registration will take place in the pavilion shelter close to the finish line.
When athletes register, we will also body mark them - write their race number and age on their arms and legs with a Sharpie. Athletes need to be registered and checked in by 8:30 at the latest to be prepared for the pre-race meeting. Please don’t plan to arrive at 8:30 though. You and your athlete will need to be able to attend to the meeting details, set up in the transition area and participate in the course preview parade. The best race experience will be if you have plenty of time to understand the course layout.
DUATHLON -Run #1 Information
The FIRST run segment will take place on the same run loop as the final run loop. They will start at the Transition Run exit and run the loop all the way back to where the swimmers are entering the transition area. ALL DUATHLETES will run .6 mile. Once the DUATHLETES complete the first run and return to the transition area they will do the same Bike and Run course as listed for their age group.
Walking/Resting on the run course
Athletes may walk or stop to rest on the run course, but again this time will be counted towards their final time.
TRIATHLON -Swim Information
The athletes will start in the northeast corner of the pool and swim clockwise to the northwest corner to exit. They will then make a sharp LEFT turn at a buoy and swim along the edge of the pool for the remainder of the swim. The 11-14 year old triathletes will then swim a second loop around the edge of the pool

Bike Information for all athletes
Bike Course
Athletes will walk/run with their bike out of the transition area to the bike mounting area. Once on the bike, athletes will ride out onto Illinois St and turn right. They will cross the canal and turn onto the new bike path that runs along the canal. They will ride this path until the first intersection at 53rd St where they will turn left and then immediately left again onto Westfield Blvd. They will ride Westfield until they return to Illinois and then left turn back onto the Riviera property. The course will be totally closed to car traffic. The 7–8-year-olds will complete one loop while the 9-10 year olds will complete two laps. The 11–14-year-olds will complete 3 loops. Athletes are responsible for counting their own laps. After the athlete has completed the bike leg of the triathlon, they will then dismount the bike and walk/run it back into the bike to run transition area.
Run Information
Run Course
The run segment will be run counter-clockwise on the north side of the building. The course surfaces will consist of concrete sidewalks, pavement and grass. The 7-10 Age Group will run one .65 mile lap while the 11-14 Age Group will run two laps for a total of 1.3 miles. A water station will be available as they exit transition where the second lap starts.
The athlete must wear their bib number on their front for the run.

From I-465 on the North side of Indianapolis, take Meridian south. Turn right or west on Kessler Blvd 0.1 mile and then turn left or south onto Illinois St. The Riviera Club is about 0.4 mile south on your right. If coming from the east or from the west, take 56th St off of 465. This will turn into Kessler Blvd from both directions. Drive to Illinois St and turn south. If coming from the south, get onto Meridian St going north to 56th St and turn left or west. Go 1 block and turn right or north. Cross the canal and turn left into the parking lot.
