This is the 16th year of a low-key fun clinic/series for both beginning and veteran triathletes. Swim 1/4 mile, bike 10 miles, run 2.5 miles with a short educational component each event. Relays and distance modifications are allowed. Proceeds from the race will support Green Mountain Multisport Youth Program.
The 2022 triathlons will be held on June 16, June 30, and July 14, 2022 with Covid 19 modifications for social distancing as needed. Start time at 6:30 pm in small waves. Registration 5:30-6:20. Participants must reserve a spot for each event in advance.
SWIM: ¼ mile (400m). Start lined up to the right of the Red lobster in line with the lobster. Swim counter clockwise around the Shamu buoy (buoy stays on your L shoulder), back to the red lobster, and repeat the loop one more time. Please stay a few yards to the right of the buoy line to avoid oncoming swimmers. In 2021 the start will be in small waves from the beach starting at 6:30 pm.
BIKE: ~9.8 miles. Leave Transition on Beach Rd toward Rte 12. Turn Right (south) on Rte 12. At ~4.9 miles, turn around and come back. There will be an orange line and a cone at the turnaround. Please turn around and turn left back into Beach Rd only when safe to do so. Cars have the right of way at these turns. Please be aware of drivers exiting and entering the Elmore Store—they may not notice you, so may not yield the right of way. Mount and dismount on the pavement on right side of the road prior to entering transition.
RUN: 2.5 miles. Follow Beach Rd away from Rte 12. It bends to the left and becomes a dirt road. As it appears to end, turn left onto Wigner Rd for a short distance downhill before turning around at the cone for the return. There will be lime markings for the turn onto Wigner and the turnaround. Remember that people live on these roads. Stay to the left when traffic is present. Watch for fire trucks entering/exiting from the station–they have the right of way!
TRANSITION: Unassigned set up on the fence near the road. First come first served for set up position.
You must dismount bike on the right side of the road at or before the dismount line and start the run at the designated line. Please stay on the correct (right) side of the road to dismount and watch for oncoming traffic on Beach Rd. as you run to your transition spot.
