LeadmanTri Life Time Epic 250 is expanding! After the critical and professional accolades lauded on the inaugural LeadmanTri in Las Vegas, our second season will include events in both Las Vegas and Bend, Oregon.
Race director Keith Hughes is clearly very excited for the 2012 race season to get started "In thirty years of racing around the world and a decade of directing races I've never been as excited for an event as I am for the Epic 250 in Bend. Stated Hughes at the Bend, OR press conference. I am determined to find a way to both race and direct Bend in 2012, this is simply the World's best triathlon course!"
Activities and adventure. Sights and sounds. All of this and more await LeadmanTri participants in beautiful Bend, Oregon. The Outdoor Jewel of the Northwest, if adventure is your pastime, Bend is the venue. For skiing, snowboarding and cycling there is Mount Bachelor. Waterskiing and wakeboarding are focused on Cultus Lake or Lake Billy Chinook. And World Class golfing can be found at Tetherow, Crosswater or Aspen Lakes. Plus mountain biking trails and the scene-stealing Cascade Lakes Highway are perfect for two-wheeled past times.
LeadmanTri Bend is scheduled for the weekend of September 21-23, 2012. Registration is now open at LeadmanTri.com.
5K Swim - Voyage Across the Cultus
LeadmanTri Bend starts with a brisk swim in Cultus Lake. A deep, mountain lake at the base of Mount Cultus, it is filled with crystal clear water that is expected to be approximately 64 on race day. The course will be two 2.5 K laps along the shoreline. Swimmers will exit the water after lap one and pass an aid station before returning to the water for lap 2.
223K Bike - Trek Round Mount Bachelor
One of the most scenic and challenging courses in the sport of triathlon, the LeadmanTri Bend course climbs over the Bachelor pass not once, but twice, with 1 1/2 laps around Mt. Bachelor. Athletes will have spectacular views of the summit, several mountain lakes and the shores of the Deschutes River. The bike finishes with a 16 miles descent into Bend.
22K Run - Tetherow Dash
The run course takes you out and back along the Deschutes River, through the majestic Tetherow Golf Club, and finishes crossing over the pedestrian bridge into the Events Plaza in the Old Mill District of Bend. The entire course is known for its old growth large Ponderosa Pine, Douglas fir and western White Pine, sometimes rising to 120 feet (37 m) tall.
