_The 2022 Firecracker Chase:

Hayden’s Hope and the Quatina M. Wolaver Foundation of Hope are excited to announce the Firecracker Chase is back for 2022! This is a classic road race that has been held on and off for several decades in the beautiful town of Fayetteville, TN.

Course  This course will not be closed, so it would be advisable for you to keep both your ears and eyes open. Y'all pickin' up that sick beat I'm droppin'? I know you are...you see it on every race's page and summarily ignore it, but headphones drastically cut down your ability to hear traffic or a barking dog...and there will probably be both where we're running. We appreciate all the reviews and feedback on our new course that was debuted in 2021. Our favorites are, "It's SO hilly!" and "This was worse than Oak Barrel!" But overwhelmingly, we heard that our runners liked it and that it was an improvement over the previous course, so we were pretty happy about that!

Weather  If the June 25th date doesn’t already give it away, THIS IS A TRADITIONALLY HOT EVENT, and we ain’t just talkin’ the swag! Please be aware of this so you can train and plan accordingly. We'll run rain or shine...just not lightening.

Cutoff  The course will be open for 3 hours. That equates to a 17:38/mile pace for the 10.2 miler - so, if you're a walker and want to tackle it at that pace or faster, we welcome you! If you're not back by 10, you'll be swept.

Awards The awards ceremony will take place on our courthouse lawn across from our iconic movie theater at the conclusion of the race. We will have age group awards in 5 year increments for both events. We will also have our traditional Overall Winner (M & F) from Fayetteville, and Overall Winner (M & F) from anywhere.

SWAG!  Each runner THAT IS REGISTERED BY JUNE 11th will receive a t-shirt. If you miss that date, you will not receive a shirt. Full stop. No extras will be ordered for the late registerers. All runners completing the 10.2 mile course will receive a Firecracker medal! Additionally, for everyone registered by June 11th, you have the option to take a $5 discount on your registration instead of a t-shirt (instead of a size, select -$5 in the t-shirt dropdown). And, let me say it again for those in the back: register by June 11th if you live for the free T! Now, let's talk biscuits! Would it even be a Firecracker Chase without 'em? We think not! Welcome to Fayetteville, where #bisuitsareswag! If you know, you know!

CUPLESS Aid Stations  READ IT, KNOW IT, BE IT! We will not have cups at our aid stations this year. Your best bet is to plan now to carry your own hydration - you will be required to have some sort of drinking vessel with you when you start the race. Paper cup, hydropack, water bottle. We don't care, but our goal is to minimize waste and trash in and around our town...not to mention give our volunteers relief from picking up used paper cups. We will have coolers of water on the 5K course, and water and sports drink on the 10.2, but you'll need your own drinking apparatus to partake.

PLEASE NOTE:  This race is NOT OPEN to strollers, baby joggers, or pets. Yes, beast mom that runs all her miles pushing her triplets, this means you! Push them babies another day, girl! Or you, bada$$ mom and dad team that take turns pushing the stroller - do the dang thang...just do it somewhere else! And you, person that LOVES THEIR DOG MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD AND TAKES THEM EVERYWHERE! Take Fido (or Garfield or Ferret Fawcett or whoever) for a run on another day. We love all the pets, but not everyone shares that love (we're looking at you, Mr. Insurance Man), so please leave them at home!

FINALLY:  Feel free to post any questions in the event discussion here. We want to see all your finisher pix with #biscuitsareswag, watch photos, and app screen shots posted there, Insta, or where ever you do your posting!

Proceeds from this race will benefit Hayden’s Hope and the Quatina M. Wolaver Foundation of Hope, which are both 501(c)3 organizations headquartered in Lincoln County, TN. Because of this a portion of your registration will be tax deductible.
