Nestled against the Green Mountains, just below Rattlesnake Point is Branbury State Park. The lake region is a most spectacular and pristine place to swim, bike and run. Novice and advanced athletes alike marvel the beauty of our courses and enjoy the mountains, lakes and streams of Central Vermont.

Course Information:

1.5 Mile Paddle

The 1.5-mile paddle is .75 miles out and .75 miles back.  Paddlers will start standing in the water by their boats.  Boasts must be left completely on the beach after landing.  Athletes then cross the transition pads to enter the transition areas.

Water temperature ranges from a pleasant 74-82 degrees

14 Mile Bike

A one-loop rolling course around Lake Dunmore and Fern Lake. There is one decent 190-foot climb over 3/4 of a mile that tops out at 7%. The total gain is 695 feet. The roads are in excellent condition and are as scenic as any you will find. Traffic is extremely light on all the roads except Rt 7 where there is a wide shoulder. Officers and Marshals will be on the extremely well marked, safe course which consists of only right-hand turns, never crossing traffic.

3.1 Mile Run

The 5K run is a simple out and back on paved, lightly traveled, Rt. 53. Runners proceed out of the park and turn south on Rt 53. At .25 miles is a short uphill. After that, the course is basically flat until descending the same small hill to the finish. The Total elevation gain and loss is 115 feet.  There are Heed and water at the turnaround. The course is very scenic and shady as it winds through the tall trees of the beautiful green mountain forest.
