MANDATORY RACE DAY CHECK-IN
Swimmers report to 16th Street beach on race day 12:00–6:00 PM.  
Pick up string backpack, cap, timing chip, event T-shirt, and complete body marking.  Swimmers only will be transported from check-in to starting line by beach truck.

COURSE
30th street beach starting line → 16th street beach finish line.  
One ocean swimming mile marked with highly visible buoys.  The course will be contingent on ocean current.  Starting and finishing points to be determined on race day.  
            
2 HEATS     
Heat 1-Male / Heat 2-Female 
Heat 2 starts exactly 3 minutes after Heat 1.  When a Heat 2 swimmer finishes the race, their result will have 3 minutes subtracted, and the new finish time will be filtered into the overall results.
  
WETSUITS PROHIBITED
If worn a swimmer is ineligible for awards.  However, if the race day water temperature is determined to be cold to the level that it will impact a majority of swimmers, wetsuits will be permitted and all swimmers will be eligible for awards.

SAFETY
BLBP reserves the right to postpone or cancel the race due to conditions.  BLBP reserves the right to remove swimmers from the course due to unsafe conditions, excess duration of the race, or if the participant is believed to be at risk.

RACE AMENITIES
Refreshments following the race.  Please bring your own fillable water bottle.  We use a water filling station to eliminate waste.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
Plaques to the first three overall male and female finishers.  Medals for the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.

TEAM AWARD    
Combined place results of the top 4 swimmers for a team organization will determine the overall team champion.  Team organizations include but are not limited to the following:  beach patrol, swim club, masters swim club, high school team, or college team.

IMPORTANT
Please plan your travel for expected heavy traffic.  Saturday afternoons are when a majority of vacation rental changeovers take place.  Swimmer check-in will end promptly at 6:00 PM to ensure the scheduled start time.

POSTPONEMENT & CANCELLATION
This is a rain or shine event, but extreme weather or ocean conditions will force a postponement or cancellation.  One postponement date only Sunday, August 1, 6:30 PM start.
