_ The 2021 YMCA Kid's Triathlon (Wilmington, NC):

Come give a tri a try! Join us as we celebrate the 19th annual YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina's Kid’s Triathlon presented by Dimock, Weinberg and Cherry, DDS and Engineering Software Solutions. Kids ages 3-17 are invited to join in on their age specific race at the Nir Family YMCA. The swimming will take place in the Y’s pool with the bike and run course being out and back in the Forest Hills neighborhood. With full event production by SetUp Events, the participants get the ultimate triathlon experience! All participants receive a finishers medal and tshirt with trophies awarded to the top 3 male and female in each age division. 

1st event on Friday, July 30th

Aquatot Splash & Dash: NOT CHIP TIMED EVENT

Ages 3-4

Distances: 25 yd swim and a 400 yd run (run will be around YMCA track)

2nd event on Saturday, July 31st

Kids Triathlon

There are 4 different races based on age groups:

age 5-6:  swim 25yd, bike 1 mile, run 0.5 mile

age 7-8:  swim 50yd, bike 2 miles, run 0.5 mile

age 9-10:  swim 100 yd, bike 2 miles, run 1 mile

age 11-13:  swim 200 yd, bike 3 miles, run 2 miles

Your race begins at 8:00 AM with the 11-13 year olds, followed by the 9-10 year olds and so on.  Awards will be presented shortly after the last runner finishes.  Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in each category.  Family friendly activities will be available for spectators and finished participants.

3rd event on Sunday, August 1st

Teen Triathlon

Ages 13-17

all ages: 300 yd. swim, 4 mile bike, 2.5 mile run

Your race begins at 8:00 AM.  Awards will be presented shortly after the last runner finishes.  Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in each category.  Family friendly activities will be available for spectators and finished participants.

FAQ:

Yes! Ages 3-4 can use floaties

Yes! Parents can participate and be in the pool with the the 3-4 year old aquatots

Yes! Ages 5-6 can have parent help in the transition area for the Kid’s Triathlon

Yes! Training wheels are allowed

Kid's Triathlon and Teen Triathlon-  All swimmers must be able to swim the distance independently

All proceeds benefit youth programs of the Nir Family YMCA to provide scholarships!

Registrations will be taken at packet pickup on Friday August 14th if space is available.  NO RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS WILL BE TAKEN.
