Thank you for your participation and cooperation in able to complete many of our 2020 athletic events. As restrictions become more clear for future events, Endurance Sports Management will continue to keep you informed on how those limitations will affect events. As of December 2020, there are no size limitations in the locations where our events are staged and ALL RACES WILL BE HELD LIVE. Virtual option is being added for those who feel apprehensive about live events but still want to enjoy race swag and participating. The Goose Pond Island Half Iron & Frantic Frog Sprint Triathlons return to the Goose Pond Colony Resort, located in Scottsboro, Alabama on Sunday, May 30, 2021. We invite all to come enjoy the beauty and challenge awaiting in our host Northern Alabama venue!

Please see our Covid Safety Tab on main web page for latest safety procedures for each venue / event. These will be updated as conditions dictate. There are currently no restrictions for these events but safety procedures will be in place. Size limitations noted for each race are based on transition capacity.   

The 1.2 mile swim will be in the pristine waters of Lake Guntersville. The half iron distance triathlon will have time-trial starts beginning at 7:00 AM Central. Course will follow the buoys in a loop course. The protected waters of Lake Guntersville will have little or no current and should offer a great opportunity for a personal record swim time. Swim Map Link

The 56 mile bike makes use of the natural terrain of the area. Scottsboro is located in the Sequatchie Valley in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Course will exit Goosepond Colony and bike towards the historic Jackson County Courthouse. Once past the courthouse square, cyclists will head out to the surrounding countryside for a fast ride along rural roads. The bike route will be fairly flat and fast. Map Link

The 13.1 mile run will leave transition and run along the golf course before turning into the campground beginning two 5.3 mile loops. Runners return down Ed Hembree Drive to finish by transition. The run provides views of Lake Guntersville as well as plentiful wildlife. Aid stations will be passed 16 times. Map Link

Note: we are instituting "cut off times" for 2021 for the safety of participants, volunteers and support staff - limits noted are from the start of final starter: swim 1:15, bike 5:15 hours, run 1/2 way point 7:15 - finish line, music, etc. will be in place for all finishers - venue tear-down may begin depending on severe weather forecast, as in past years. Safety is our first priority. 

Frantic Frog Sprint race includes a 500 meter Swim, 14 mile Bike & 5K run beginning at 8 AM Central. Swim will be a time-trial start at end of pier with a rectangular course & beach exit. Athlete Amenities - race packets will include: race technical tank t-shirt, ESM water bottle, ESM socks, ESM swim cap (must be worn). FINISHER MEDALS for all finishers. Half Iron also has FINISHERS APPAREL. 

Endurance Sports Management has enabled event insurance for your consideration in the event you are unable to compete. Please review this option during the registration process.

USAT Info: ALL USAT RULES APPLY – Goose Pond Island Half Iron Distance Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event. USAT officials will referee the event.

All Endurance Sports Management triathlon events are sanctioned by USA Triathlon. When a race sanctions with USAT, it is required for each participant to purchase either a one-day license or annual membership in order to participate in said event. A one-day USAT license is $15 and an annual USAT membership is $50. Either can be purchased when signing up for the event. Age Groups and Awards: Overall awards for the top three male and female finishers & top male and female masters. Age group awards for first, second, and third place in the following M & F age groups: 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45- 49, 50-55, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over & top 3 Clydesdale & Athena. Open Relay Division: Male, Female, and Co-ed.

Endurance Sports Management has a NO REFUND policy. Insurance is available during the registration of each event. Please take advantage of this option should you wish to insure your entry fees.Athlete event TRANSFERS / DEFERRALS have been enabled up to 2 days prior to event with a ZERO fee.

Race entries are non-transferable between individuals.

Event Cancellation / Modification Policy - If Natural Disaster or Community Disaster occurs, our action steps are as follows:

1. Endurance Sports Management in concert with local officials will make decisions based on safety first. 2. Courses and/or race segments will be altered as agreed to between Endurance Sports Management and local officials 3. Financial: It is not financially feasible for Endurance Sports Management to accept the risk of a disaster for everyone. Each registered participant needs to accept the risk of his or her entry fee. There will be NO REFUNDS or free entries to future races. The money you paid is spent developing the subject event. 4. Endurance Sports Management does not save any money if one of our events has to be canceled for reasons beyond our control. All supplies and services needed for the events are purchased and/or arranged in advance. All event supplies and services associated with that event must be paid for, regardless of the outcome.
